The Bromley Dementia Support Hub has been nominated for a prestigious national Dementia Care award.
They are just one of three UK nominees for the award in the Markel Third Sector Care Awards, which recognise the hard work and dedication of teams helping sufferers.
The hub is led by South East London Mind, who work with local partners, Oxleas NHS, Bromley Well and Age UK Bromley and Greenwich.
The team provide a wide range of innovative support for people living with dementia and their carers including: befriending, advice and information, drop-in cafes and even an online choir group. In 2024, the team cared for more people than ever before: a total of 1,761 people across the borough.
The hub’s services manager Saira Addison, said: “The team truly deserve this recognition because they are exceptional.
“Each of them is an expert in their own right but as a team, they are a force of compassion, knowledge, strength and courage reaching those that really need us when they are faced with the shock of a dementia diagnosis and all it brings with it.”
Winners will be announced on March 14.
