A Devon doctors’ surgery has been forced into an emergency closure due to devastating flooding. Honiton Surgery in Marlpits Lane says water has caused significant damage in 30 clinical rooms.
It follows flooding on December 30. The surgery has since posted a video which shows debris from collapsed ceilings scattered on the wet floor. It says power is out in most of the building.
In the latest social media update on December 31 the surgery said: “We would like to update the Honiton community as to the extent of the situation at the practice. The building is not safe with ceilings coming down and water damage to 30 clinical rooms.
“Our server and comms room has been damaged and there are no functional computers at the practice. Power is out to most of our clinical areas.
“We are therefore only able to offer urgent care Thursday and Friday morning this week. Outside of these hours you will need to contact NHS111. We are trying to contact all patients individually if they have an appointment booked for this week. Please continue to order prescriptions via NHS app or use the surgery letter box.
“We again apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
In an earlier post the surgery said it did not anticipate reopening the building in the near future and is actively coordinating with local NHS facilities to ensure continuity of care for our staff and clinicians.
For any medical emergencies call 999. If you need to seek non-emergency medical advice during this time call 111
