When Peter Andre and his family stayed at a boutique hotel and restaurant in Devon, they had a question they needed answering. Peter, his wife Emily, from Taunton, and their children stayed at the boutique hotel St Elizabeth’s House, in Plymouth.
The establishment has garnered great reviews on Tripadvisor for its lovely afternoon teas, roast dinners and its varied à la carte menu. However, it wasn’t the food that sparked Peter’s curiosity.
Peter and his wife wanted information about the beds. After checking out of the hotel, the I’m A Celebrity star got back in touch to inquire about the beds because he had enjoyed such a great night’s sleep.
St Elizabeth’s was originally built in the 17th century and was previously used as a private home and became a convent for some of the last century. Today, it offers guests a boutique hotel experience blending its extensive history with a modern comforts.
It is currently ranked number one for Plympton restaurants on Tripadvisor with a score of 4.5, as of December 2024. Diners say the restaurant, which features à la carte dining, afternoon tea, lunch, Sunday lunch, and a children’s menu, is a true hidden gem.

Robin P said: “Not sure why we haven’t discovered this restaurant before! Visited on a Monday evening for a family meal. Truly excellent dinner menu (everything sounds so appetising) which has something for everyone.
“Service was very good and friendly. All three dinner courses were superb and definitely one of the best meals we’ve had in the past 12 months.”
Reviewer Kingsley wrote on Tripadvisor: “Everything was perfect – the food, the service, including the beautiful surroundings. I will definitely be coming back. It is a rare find these days and a little gem.”
