Dog left in freezing car boot overnight after driver smashed into parked car

A dog was left trapped in a freezing car boot overnight after its owner crashed into a parked vehicle. The pet was left in icy conditions following the collision on Dulverton Road, in the Aston area of Birmingham.

West Midlands Fire Service was alerted to the incident at 5.56am today (January 11). Firefighters discovered the dog locked inside the boot of a dark-coloured Volkswagen Passat.

Aston Fire Station later posted on social media that the dog had been left throughout the night in freezing temperatures. Images shared by the fire station revealed damage to the boot door and a dog kennel inside the boot. You can sign up to our regular Crime and Punishment newsletter here.

West Midlands Police also attended the scene, and the dog was taken into their care. Officers were photographed guiding the brown dog into the side of a van using dog catcher poles.

Aston Fire Station posted on social media: “A dog was found locked in the boot, silent through the night in freezing temperatures,” Birmingham Live reported.

“Crews rescued her, and she’ll be cared for by police for the night. Please don’t leave animals in extreme cold, and drive carefully! ” It remains unclear what happened to the driver.”
