Smoke was seen coming from the property in Albert Road in Stechford following a New Year’s Day arson attack

A home in Birmingham has been subject to a double arson attack in recent days just weeks after a shooting is believed to have taken place at the same property. A car was set alight outside a home in Albert Road in Stechford shortly before 10pm on Sunday (December 29).

And in the early hours of New Year’s Day a home was damaged after it too was set alight. BirminghamLive reported shots being fired at a property in Albert Road in Stechford on Saturday, December 7.

An eyewitness claims the property set alight today, Wednesday (January 1), is the same address. The eyewitness, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “There’s fire tape, which is around the property and the windows have shattered and fallen out. There’s glass and fire damage everywhere.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We’re investigating after two arson attacks on Albert Road in Stechford over the last few days. We were called to the street just before 10pm on Sunday (December 29) after a car had been set alight.

“Last night, a property was damaged when someone attempted to set it alight. The fire was extinguished before significant damage was caused. We are exploring links between the two attacks, and an earlier incident where shots were fired at a property on Albert Road early on 7 December. Fortunately, nobody has been injured in any of the incidents.

“Enquiries are ongoing and CCTV in and around the area is being reviewed. We know how concerning these incidents will have been in the community and determined to find out who was involved. We’ll have extra officers in the area to provide reassurance over the coming days. We’re keen to hear from anyone with information. They should get in touch on 101 or Live Chat quoting log 1790 of 1 January.”
