Drink driving suspect arrested after Limehouse hit and run leaves man in hospital

A man was rushed to hospital after he was run down in a hit-and-run in Limehouse. The driver of the car was later arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

Police attended the scene after receiving calls reporting a car running over a pedestrian on Salmon Lane at 2.45pm on Saturday (January 4). Officers attended alongside London Ambulance Service paramedics, and the man was taken to hospital for treatment.

At hospital, his injuries were assessed as not life-threatening. The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene but was later arrested nearby.

The Metropolitan Police has since released a statement about the incident. A spokesperson said: “Police were called at about 14:45hrs on Saturday, 4 January to reports of a car in collision with a pedestrian on Salmon Lane, E14.

“Officers attended. The pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment; his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The driver failed to stop at the scene but was arrested nearby on suspicion of drink drive.”
