Stranded cars have blocked the M1 in South Yorkshire making it almost impossible for vehicles to pass. There is widespread disruption on the usually busy motorway with snow also blocking lanes in the opposite direction.
South Yorkshire Police are dealing with reports of “multiple stranded vehicles” and thick, heavy snow around J37 for the A628 Whinby Road near Barnsley and Dodsworth heading north.
Meanwhile, heading south on the M1, one lane is totally blocked off by snow from J31 for the A57 Workshop Road near Sheffield and Worksop. The disruption stretches to J30 for the A616, however traffic is reported to be coping well so far. See full list of road closures for snow across Yorkshire here.
