51 postcodes have been triggered for new £25 Cold Weather Payments from the Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ). Cold Weather Payments, which are paid by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), are a £25 one-off payment given to people who claim certain benefits when it gets especially cold.
The scheme runs between November and March each year and is usually paid out during periods of very cold weather. People on certain benefits will receive the cash. The following benefits qualify for the Cold Weather Payments: Pension Credit, Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Universal Credit, Support for Mortgage Interest.
To qualify, you must live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland. People in Scotland do not qualify for Cold Weather Payments. Eligible households will get £25 for each seven day period of very cold weather between 1 November 2024 and 31 March 2025. The temperature must be below 0C, or forecast to be less than freezing during this period.
