DWP confirms how much PIP and Carer’s Allowance payments will rise by in April

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has recently confirmed that benefits, including Carer’s Allowance, will see a 1.7 per cent increase for the financial year 2025/26. The new payment rates for disability benefits such as Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Attendance Allowance will come into effect from April 7.

A successful claim for PIP currently provides between £28.70 and £184.30 each week in additional financial support. As the benefit is paid every four weeks – resulting in 13 payments over a year instead of 12 – this equates to between £114.80 and £737.20 every payment period.

With the 1.7 per cent uprating, people on disability benefits will receive between £29.20 and £187.45 each week, or £116.80 or £749.80 every four-week pay period. Over the course of the financial year, this will result in those on the highest awards receiving £9,747 in cash help.

It’s crucial to note that the maximum amount of £749.80 is based on someone receiving the highest award for both the daily living and mobility components. Attendance Allowance does not include a mobility component, reports the Daily Record.
