EastEnders’ legend denies being ‘Bush’ on The Masked Singer

The Masked Singer fanbase is abuzz with theories that EastEnders legend Natalie Cassidy might be the celebrity behind ITV’s enigmatic “Bush” character. Yet, on her Off The Telly podcast, the Albert Square favourite brushed off the speculation.

In conversation with co-host Joanna Page, Natalie queried with a hint of disbelief, “Can you imagine me doing that? ” and clarified emphatically, “I am not Bush.”

She reinforced her point by reminding Joanna of her aversion to live performances and by citing their intensive podcast schedule as proof of her full calendar, stating firmly: “We have worked together for a whole year,” and pressing the question, “When would I have I squeezed that in?”.

Joanna playfully kept up her doubts, pledging to keep a keen eye on any further clues on the programme.

Although Natalie mused that there isn’t much chatter about The Masked Singer at her place, Joanna admitted her own family are huge fans of the ITV show, even harbouring suspicions about Natalie being the mystery celeb concealed within the costume, despite Bush’s voice appearing deeper than hers, reports BristolLive.

Despite Natalie’s denials, numerous Masked Singer devotees remain persuaded she’s the star secretly belting out tunes on TV, alongside other speculated names like Scarlett Moffatt, Kerry Godliman, and Katherine Parkinson.

A creative fan on Reddit has speculated that it might be comedian Morgana Robinson “pretending to be Natalie Cassidy”, as per the Mirror. Betting insiders have currently placed Natalie as the favourite to be behind the Bush mask, with odds at 1/2 suggesting a 66.7% probability, while Morgana’s chances are pegged lower at 10/1 (9.1%).

So far this season, three celebrities have been revealed. The most recent, Macy Gray, seemed less than thrilled about her exit, particularly after making it to the finals in the US version of the show in 2023.

Post-elimination, Gray’s responses were curt and strained. A source who spoke to The Sun remarked: “This has never happened on The Masked Singer before.”

The source added, “When Macy stormed off stage everyone was frozen in shock but as soon as she reached backstage, crew removed her mask so they could talk her down.”

The insider also disclosed, “Macy was almost shellshocked to start with and was basically gutted to be out so early because she really enjoyed being on the American version – when obviously she did brilliantly – so was totally blindsided.”

The drama continued off-stage, as an ITV source told The Mirror that the American singer declined to partake in the customary post-show interview, typically given by celebrities following their exit from the programme.
