Discovering mould in your home can be quite disheartening – especially as it’s often difficult to eliminate permanently.
If not addressed, mould can pose serious health risks, potentially affecting the airways, lungs, eyes, and skin. Mould exposure can cause symptoms such as increased sneezing, a runny or stuffy nose, and watery eyes.
So, what should you do if you find mould at home? TikToker @daddybrownn claims to have a “simple” yet “super effective” method for removing mould without using any chemicals, suggesting it might be time to put away those mould-removing sprays.

He even asserts that his technique will “stop mould growing” in your house. “Also, I’m gonna show you how to prevent mould from growing there in the future,” he promises.
All you need is baking soda and water – so the method should only cost you around £1 to do. Explaining how to do it, the housework whiz advised: “You’re going to get some kind of bowl or dish, whatever you want, and you’re going to pour some baking soda in there…
“You’re just going to add a tiny bit of water to create a paste. You’re going to want to make enough to cover the entire area that’s affected by mould.”
Demonstrating to the camera, he shows the thick paste starting to form. Once done, he added: “Put on a glove and rub it all over the mould”. After applying the paste to the mould, he advises to “let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes” to allow it to work its magic.
Wondering how it works? The expert elaborated: “Baking soda absorbs all the moisture that causes mould in the first place. Also, mould needs acidic conditions to grow, and the pH of baking soda is high, which kills mould.”
When the time is up, “wipe that off”. You can also “prevent mould from coming back in the future” by making a mixture of baking soda and water. Pop it in a spray bottle and spritz in areas that are usually impacted by mould.
So, will you be trying out this life hack? It seems straightforward enough and could certainly be worth a shot.
