Energy giant Eon has told customers how they can bag an extra £50. New energy charges are set to kick in from January 1 which will leave the typical household paying an extra £21 a year for gas and electricity.
But Eon says customers can keep their bills £50 below the new Energy Price Cap rate. The price cap determines average bills paid by UK households.
The majority of households pay this amount as they are on variable tariffs. But Eon has told customers there is still a way they could save.

This is by fixing their energy bills with its Next Pledge tariff. The energy firm said prices were “guaranteed” to stay below the Ofgem price cap.
Households have been urged to consider fixing their bills to avoid the new price cap rate from January. With prices set to remain high throughout 2025, people are unlikely to lose out by fixing. Some fixes may still be available heading into the new year so experts say it’s worth searching for offers from energy companies.
Eon told customers: “With our Next Pledge tariff, you’ll get energy prices guaranteed to stay £50 below the Ofgem price cap. T&Cs apply.
“Unlike other fixed tariffs, you’ll also benefit if energy prices drop. With Pledge, you can count on:
“Please bear in mind that your energy rates will change when the price cap is reviewed, and bills will vary depending on your usage.”
