Escape to the Chateau captured the hearts of viewers as it followed Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree through their ambitious journey, renovating the splendid 19th-century Chateau de la Motte-Husson in France.
The beloved series chronicled how the pair refurbished the chateau while juggling the challenges of raising their two young children, Arthur and Dorothy, and establishing a venture for weddings and assorted events.
After the show’s successful run from 2016 to 2022 on Channel 4, the couple made the heartfelt decision that it was time to “walk away”. The engineer and designer duo, proud parents of Arthur and Dorothy, didn’t halt their ambitions as they ventured into touring.
Recently returning to the UK with their new tour, Forever Home, Dick and Angel have kept the door ajar for a potential return of Escape to the Chateau to our screens.

In an exclusive talk with Devon Live, they shared insights but acknowledged the importance of timing regarding the show’s conclusion.
Dick told Devon Live: “The thing is, Escape to the Chateau is a year-long project for every season, and Arthur starts senior school, Dorothy is in her last year before she moves, and that change in the children was the rationale,” reports the Liverpool Echo.
He added: “Because we had back in 2022 huge conversations saying, before they get all the pressures that young people have in their lives on them, it was time for us to walk away from the escape. That’s why we did it.

“We told everybody at the beginning of 2022 because it had to be done. That’s why we have the big party at the end of 2022, literally because it was so, so important that Arthur and Dorothy do the transition into senior school with all the pressure they have with puberty and social media and everything else.”
“And that has been good because for Arthur, I think the pressure has been off for a bit, hasn’t it,” he added, turning to his wife.
“I worry more a bit more about Dorothy, actually,” Angel admitted before agreeing with Dick about their decision to walk away from Escape to the Chateau.
“It was exactly the right decision to make because they had never… since we moved here, they’ve had the cameras here all year round and it was just exactly the right thing to do.
“What we’re not against, we haven’t sort of hid them away from the media. They love it, they’re in the books and they come on tour.”
