Fans of BBC property show Escape to the Country were left bemused as they begged the BBC to “read the room”.
In the celebrity special aired on Monday (December 30), host Denise Nurse took the helm, assisting Steps star Ian ‘H’ Watkins and his spouse Tom in their search for an idyllic escape in Wales.
Denise showcased four luxurious homes throughout South Wales, painting a picture of the life that awaited H and Tom if they chose to settle in the Welsh countryside. However, the multi-million pound price tags on these properties caused discomfort among viewers due to their extravagance.
Audience members quickly voiced their displeasure on social media platform X, taking issue with the high-value homes featured on the show.
