Exactly how cold it’s set to get in Wales as Met Office warns temperatures could dip to -5C

Wales is set to see three days worth of snow this weekend, with the Met Office also warning of ice over the coming days. Temperatures are set to drop on Thursday, with blistery winds and wintery showers overtaking the wet and windy weather we have seen over the last few days.

A yellow weather warning for ice was issued by the weather agency on Tuesday. It comes into force at 4pm on Wednesday, January 1, and is set to last until 10am on Thursday, January 2.

As the sky clears this afternoon following the heavy rainfall of the last two days, temperatures are set to drop making the perfect conditions for icy roads, paths and pavements. The Met Office warns this will create difficult travelling conditions in some places.

While there are no warnings in place for Friday, Saturday will see the start of a three-day warning for snow. Some places will see as little as 5cm of snow while higher grounds can expect 20 to 30cm. The warning is in place from 12pm on Saturday, January 4 until 9am on Monday, January 6. Join our WhatsApp news community here for the latest breaking news. You will receive updates from us daily.
