Federico Chiesa and his wife have issued a family update. The Italian forward signed for Liverpool FC during the summer but he has only made one appearance since the end of September due to a muscle injury.

Chiesa was on the bench for the reds’ Boxing Day win against Leicester but was absent from the matchday squad yesterday for the team’s 5-0 win away at West Ham. Manager Arne Slot stated afterwards that Chiesa was focussing on building up his fitness through training sessions.

Away from the pitch, Chiesa is married to Lucia Bramani. Lucia is a model represented by Elite Model World and has worked with brands such as Pollini, Bikini Lovers and Emporio Armani.

The couple married in a stunning ceremony at the Grosseto Cathedral in Tuscany in July. Lucia moved to the UK with Federico when the Italian forward agreed to join Liverpool from Juventus in an £11m transfer at the end of August.

Lucia has since been spotted in the UK with the partners of other Liverpool stars and in the stands during matches and has been enjoying their first festive period in the UK. A joint Instagram post from the pair showed them at home with their two dogs and a Christmas tree in the background.

The caption written by Lucia said: “Merry Christmas from us.” The couple were flooded with support in the comments section including from other family members.

Federico’s brother Lorenzo Chiesa, who plays for the youth team of Italian side Sampdoria, left two emojis of a smiling face with heart eyes and one of a red heart. Lucia responded with four red heart emojis.

Liverpool fans also sent their best wishes. One said: “Merry Christmas YNWA.” Another added: “All the love and support for you Federico.”

Explaining his absence from Liverpool’s squad after the game yesterday, Slot said: “I’ve said it many times already. We are working on two things. We are working on his match fitness and whenever we can we try to bring him with the team.

“But he was on the bench during the week and we thought it was better for him to have some extra training sessions instead of joining us. So it’s the constant balance we have to find between getting him fitter and fitter and letting him join the team.”
