A former teacher has been charged with historical sexual offences.
George Scarlett, 85, will appear in court later this year as part of an investigation into the alleged offences in Fleetwood. Lancashire Constabulary said he has been charged with two counts of indecent assault of a boy under the age of 18.
The allegations date back to the 1970s and relate to two alleged victims. Mr Scarlett will appear before magistrates in Lancaster next month.
In a statement issued this morning, a force spokesperson said: “A former teacher will appear in court later this year as part of an investigation into alleged historic sexual offences in Fleetwood. George Scarlett, 85, of Hitherfield Lane, Harpenden, Hertfordshire, has been charged with two counts of indecent assault of a boy under the age of 18.
“The allegations date back to the 1970s and relate to two alleged victims. He will appear at Lancaster Magistrates Court on February 7, 2025.
