Former Leeds United star sings the praises of legendary Yorkshire institution

A former Leeds United player has praised a Yorkshire institution.

This came while Stephen Warnock, 43, who played for the Whites between 2013 and 2015, commentated on Leeds United’s FA Cup tie against Harrogate Town on Saturday night. During the BBC broadcast, Warnock, now a pundit after retiring in 2018, discussed famous tearoom Bettys with Jonathan Pearce – his co-commentator.

Pearce stated: :“Lovely place, Harrogate.” Warnock replied: “Beautiful. Bettys tearoom, is it?”

Pearce added: “Absolutely.” Last year, a member of our team experienced Bettys for the first time.

In their review, discussing the sweet treats on offer, they said: “One bite and I was met with the fresh cream, cooling my tongue from the piping hot chocolate. Like the hot chocolate, this one had a perfect balance of rich chocolate topping and decoration.

“The snap of the slightly firm chocolate decoration had a delightful texture as it stood out from the soft pastry. It did not last very long and was gone within minutes, which was probably not an ‘etiquette thing’ to do in this setting but I just could not help myself.”
