Police have provided an update on a Birmingham murder investigation where a dad was shot dead in a car. Raad Asmael was killed inside a car in Rotton Park Road, at the junction of City Road, in Edgbaston shortly before 11pm on Friday, November 22.
Four men were arrested last year, including a 21-year-old, 24-year-old, 25-year-old and 31-year-old, but bailed. Now four more men have been arrested on Thursday (January 16) in connection with the death.
They are aged 21, 22, 23 and 24 and all detained on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. Those four suspects have also been bailed ‘pending further enquiries’.

The family of Raad had previously paid tribute to the 27-year-old and said: “Indeed, we belong to Allah and indeed to him we shall return. Our beloved husband, son, father and brother.”

In a statement, a West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “Four men have been arrested over the murder of Raad Asmael, who was shot dead in Edgbaston last year.. The suspects, aged 21, 22, 23 and 24, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder yesterday (Thursday, January 16). They have since been bailed pending further enquiries.
“Raad, aged 27 was sadly pronounced dead after he was shot inside a car in Rotton Park Road at the junction of City Road in Edgbaston just before 11pm on 22 November.
