A number of road closures are scheduled across Newham this month while resurfacing, repair and maintenance works can take place. Affected areas include East Ham, Beckton, Plaistow, Stratford, Manor Park, Canning Town, Green Street East and West Ham.
Newham Council, Transport for London (TfL), Thames Water, Utility Distributions Networks Ltd, and BT’s Openreach are the main organisations carrying out the works. Meanwhile some roads that have been closed since 2024 are set to open next month (February).
The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) has compiled a list of roads that are closed this month with expected opening dates. Newham residents can find out more on the council’s website.
January road closures
- Priory Road (East Ham): Road closed from Jan 13-Jan 15 for carriageway resurfacing
- Katherine Road (East Ham): Road closed from Jan 7-Jan 10 for carriageway resurfacing
- Keppel Road (East Ham): Road closed from Jan 20-Jan 23 for carriageway resurfacing
- Caulfield Road (East Ham): Road closed from Jan 16-Jan 17 for highway improvement works
- Clements Road (East Ham): Road closed from Jan 14-Jan 15 for highway improvement works
- Lathom Road (East Ham): Road closed from Jan 10-Jan 13 for highway improvement works
- Ethel Road (Canning Town): Road closed from Jan 27-Jan 30 so Thames Water can carry out works
- Newham Way (Canning Town): Road closed from Jan 10-Jan 11 so TfL can carry out works
- Bridgeland Road (Canning Town): Road closed from Jan 27-Jan 28 for highway maintenance works
- Silvertown Way (Canning Town): Road set to reopen on Jan 15 after being closed since Nov 27, 2023
- Durham Road (Canning Town): Road closed from Jan 14-Jan 17 so Openreach can carry out repair and maintenance works
- Ronald Avenue (Canning Town): Road closed from Jan 15-Jan 17 so Openreach can carry out works
- Telham Road (Beckton): Road closed from Jan 9-Jan 10 so Thames Water can carry out repair and maintenance works
- Charlemont Road (Beckton): Road closed from Jan 6-Jan 17 so Utility Distributions Networks can carry out works
- Warwick Road (Manor Park): Road closed on Jan 27 for highway improvement works
- Studley Road (Green Street East): Road closed from Jan 5-Jan 10 so Thames Water can carry out repair and maintenance works
- Pudding Mill Lane (Stratford): Road closed from Jan 7-Jan 24 so works can take place
- Valetta Grove (Plaistow): Road closed on Jan 27 so highway improvement works can take place
- Dyson Road (West Ham): Road closed from Jan 24-Feb 7 so council can install new cycle lane
- Lower Lea Crossing: Road closed from Jan 22-Feb 10 so TfL can carry out highway improvement works

- Sheringham Avenue (Manor Park): Road closed from Aug 15, 2024-Feb 28, 2025 so roadworks can take place
- Desringham Avenue (Manor Park): Road closed from Aug 15, 2024-Feb 28, 2025 so roadworks can take place
- Manor Road (West Ham): Road closed with two-way traffic signals from July 22, 2024- Feb 11, 2025 so Thames Water can carry out works
