Full list of roads closed in Gloucestershire and all the red alert flood warnings in force

High tides after heavy rainfall and melting snow has seen a number of flood warnings remain in force and some key roads closed today (Friday, January 10). Temperatures have also plunged with more cold weather due over the weekend in Gloucestershire.

River levels remain high along stretches of the Severn and the Avon in Gloucestershire. A key stretch of the A417 between Maisemore and Over on the edge of Gloucester was closed this morning due to flooding.

No significant rainfall is expected over the coming days. But river levels are expected to remain high for several days, the Environment Agency says.

Below we’ll have the latest road closures linked to flooding and the latest red alert Flood Warnings in place. Lists updated at 7am.

Roads closed due to flooding

  • A417 Over Causeway in both directions closed due to flooding from The Rudge to A40 (Over roundabout).
  • Haw Bridge in both directions closed due to flooding from Ham Road (Hasfield Crossroads, Tirley) to Wainlodes turn off (Apperley).
  • Ham Road in both directions closed due to flooding from B4213 (Hasfield Crossroads, Tirley) to White End (Ashleworth).
  • Howells Road in both directions closed due to flooding from Oldfield / Link Road to Swilgate Road.
  • Northway Lane One Way Street closed due to flooding from A438 Ashchurch Road to The Garage in Tewkesbury
  • Sandhurst Road, Gloucester, in both directions closed due to flooding from A417 / St Oswalds Road to Wallsworth turning.
  • Two Mile Lane in Highnam in both directions closed due to flooding from The Golf Club to Gloucester turn off.
  • Wainlode Lane in Lower Apperley in both directions closed due to flooding between Ledbury turn off (Lower Apperley) and Old Tewkesbury Road (Norton).

Today: A cold morning in the east with patchy freezing fog and icy stretches in places. Slightly milder in the west, with rain and hill snow becoming increasingly patchy, although a blanket of cloud spreads steadily eastwards through the day. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Tonight: Mainly cloudy with further outbreaks of rain and hill snow in the west overnight. Drier in the east, with icy stretches and freezing fog forming beneath any clear skies. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Saturday: Thick cloud in the west brings further patchy light rain and hill snow through the morning, but otherwise settled with the best of the sunshine in the east. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday: Dry and bright on Sunday, with occasional sunny spells. Turning milder next week, but cloudier and breezier too with southwesterly winds bringing patchy rain on Monday and Tuesday.
