Social media users are gushing over a “Gavin and Stacey” style romance after a woman left a message looking for a mystery man.
The Faversham Residents Group lit up after a woman left a post trying to track down a “friendly and attractive” rail worker she said she enjoyed a nice encounter with.
The woman said in the post on January 3 that she was “shooting [her] shot” after they met at Faversham station. She said: “I’m brave but not brave enough to post who I am in case they weren’t on the vibe I was. “I was at Faversham station at about 4:30pm waiting for a train after delays from Whitstable.”

The love-strucker poster, who remained anonymous, said she “got chatting to one of the guys who works there” but everyone got rushed on the train before she could “ask him or work out if he was single”. She described him as “friendly and attractive with a nice smile and I’d like to have kept chatting to him”, Kent Online reported.
She continued: “So, if anyone knows a guy in his 30s who was working platform one and two, can you help a girl out and show him this post or find out if he’s single and, if he is, see if he liked the brunette he was chatting to who was wearing a big white fluffy scarf with sunglasses on her head?”
The woman said if the dreamy bloke wasn’t interested then that would be fine, but she figured it would be “worth a shot”. The shot in the dark brought comments of glee on the residents group Facebook page, with one person wishing her luck.
“Fortune favours the brave,” they said. “Good luck!” They added: “Let us know what happens!! Gavin and Stacey vibes.”
Another person said: “This has brought a huge smile on my face but need updates.” One person wrote: “Those were the days – meeting people in real life situations, having random conversations and connecting with someone.”
The mystery man in question, Shaun Beckett, and the anonymous poster briefly interacted with the woman apologising if the post had “weirded” him out. She said: I’ve no idea what your situation is but if you’re single and this hasn’t completely scared you, lemme know and I will message you. If not, thanks for the chat anyway – and giving the whole of Faversham something to talk about.”
Lots of Faversham residents on the Facebook group enjoyed the anonymous post

Shaun said: “Ha! Ha! Don’t be daft. U can always message. I do remember the convo.”
Sadly, the pleasant conversation brought no date. Shaun said he did remember the conversation and that it was “nice to be recognised as doing a good job”.
In a post Shaun, from Sheerness, said: “There is no date, as previously explained I was doing my job and I absolutely appreciate every single response, people have taken time out of their day and night to compliment me and acknowledge what I’ve done and I couldn’t be more thankful.”
