I never thought I’d ever buy a treadmill, but this handy piece of kit has been sitting next to my desk for a few months now, and I can’t imagine life without it. When I first saw Amazon’s Sperax Walking Pad Treadmill on sale, I started thinking about the convenience of having a walking pad at home.
The online retailer has once again reduced the price of the treadmill, cutting it from £299.99 to £179.99. I’m a gym member and go to classes several times a week, plus I enjoy outdoor walks, but there are times when I’m too tired to venture out, especially in the winter when it’s cold and dark.
As a fully remote worker, I rarely leave my desk, whereas in an office environment, I would often wander over to colleagues for a chat or head to the kitchen for a cuppa. Almost every lunch break involved a walk around the block, but since working from home, my departures from the desk are limited to quick toilet breaks or grabbing lunch from downstairs.

The Sperax Walking Pad Treadmill offers a range of speed settings, allowing for anything from a gentle stroll to a full-on run. It features an LED display that accurately monitors your workout details such as time, speed, distance, and calories burned.

For added safety, it includes a removable handlebar, and also comes with a remote control. There’s also a holder for your phone or tablet, enabling you to enjoy videos or TV shows during your workout.
The main reason I bought the treadmill was to help me lose a bit of weight by ensuring I take a brisk walk every day and get those essential steps in. But it’s had more benefits than I expected – it gives me a much-needed screen break at lunchtime, and has eased my back, neck and shoulder pain caused by sitting at my desk.
When it’s cold, using the walking pad is a great way to warm up without having to turn the heating on. It’s also handy for weekend workouts, as if I have plans, I won’t have time to go to the gym, but now I can jump on the walking pad before getting ready.
The treadmill runs quietly, so it doesn’t disturb the rest of my household. My routine includes a brisk 20-minute walk every weekday during my lunch break, with an extra 20 minutes before or after work, or sometimes both. A 20-minute fast walk burns about 85 calories and is 2,100 steps.

The treadmill has been great for both my physical and mental health, and over 2,400 Amazon customers clearly agree with me as they’ve given it five stars. I really enjoy putting on some music and exercising in the privacy of my own home.
The only downside is there’s a slight crease on the belt of the treadmill, presumably from transit, which hasn’t straightened out even after a couple months of use. This doesn’t affect the functionality of the walking pad, though, and isn’t a safety concern.
The treadmill comes equipped with wheels for easy movement, but it is quite heavy. If you need to transport it between rooms or up stairs, you’ll need at least two people for the task. You can buy the Sperax Walking Pad Treadmill from Amazon here for £179.99 while the sale lasts. Alternatively, Argos has the Dynamax RunningPad Folding Treadmill priced at £550, and Debenhams is selling a 2 in 1 Folding Treadmill at a reduced price of £239.95.
