Good Morning Britain viewers were left unimpressed during Thursday’s programme following remarks made about young darts sensation Luke Littler. After showcasing a clip, presenter Adil Ray commented on the player’s lifestyle choices.
He remarked: “I have to say and this might not be very popular, I’m a little bit worried about Luke. He’s 17 and he’s turning into the look of a darts player.”
With co-presenter Sean Fletcher audibly chuckling in the background, Adil went on to discuss Luke’s diet. He added: “He is though. If I were his mum and dad, I mean, he’s sort of – look at him. He’s admitted he has pizzas before a match and sits there playing computer games. I just think I’m a bit worried.”
Kate Garraway, also hosting, questioned: “Are you? He’s so successful.”
Adil responded, expressing his concern: “I know but he’s going to get more successful and I just worry,” as Kate probed whether he was “fretting”.
“I don’t want him to get too unhealthy,” Adil said, prompting Kate to humorously suggest he could “pop over with a carrot”. “See how that goes down,” she quipped, reports the Mirror.

Adil chuckled: “Just before the final, I’ve brought a nice little salad for you from Pret.” Kate then pointed out: “To be fair, lots of 17 year-olds like pizza,” but acknowledged Adil’s point by saying, “But I know what you mean, you’re concerned, I like that.”
Adil wrapped up the conversation by praising Luke: “He’s brilliant though, I absolutely love him, he’s great.”
The reaction was swift, with numerous viewers expressing their outrage on Twitter. Many took issue with Adil’s remarks, which some perceived as an attempt to shame Luke Littler about his weight.
One person tweeted: “Adil trying to fat shame Luke Littler is not the best thing this morning.”

Another person chimed in, stating: “Wow @adilray body-shaming like littler on live TV, call to @Ofcom needed @GMB He’s not even that overweight.”
The criticism continued, with one fan commenting: “@GMB please ditch that Adil Ray! I hope he makes a public apology to Luke Littler after making derogatory comments about him.”
Another viewer shared their disapproval, tweeting: “your hosts fat shaming Luke Littler, a 17 year old boy is unacceptable and unnecessary. Clearly a bitter and unhappy new year for Adil and Kate.”
