Gordon Ramsay fans say 'that's not pizza' over 'floppy' Margherita missing key ingredient

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has come under fire on X for his take on an iconic food. Taking on the Italian classic, margherita pizza, people are having their say – and they’re not holding back.

The 58-year-old restaurateur, who recently made headlines over a £55 roast dinner criticized for its portion size, has now found himself at the center of another food controversy. In a video shared on Instagram, the much loved chef showcased the preparation of a margherita pizza at his Shoreditch Pizza East restaurant.

Whilst some would fine it perfectly acceptable, some fans were quick to point out what they felt was a glaring omission: a generous amount of cheese. Ramsay captioned the video: “This is how the team at @pizzaeast make our signature Margherita pizza!”

But for some foodies, the dish’s simplicity just didn’t cut it. Critics flooded the comments, with one saying: “My God, where is the structure? I’ve never seen a pizza flop so fast. That’s not good.”

Another added: “It needs more cheese” with another adding: “I’m tired of pretending this is a pizza – there’s no cheese or toppings!” wrote a frustrated viewer.

One user even joked: “This looks like a microwave mini pizza after it fell on the floor.”

The pizza, made with dough, mozzarella, basil, and tomato, comes with a £13.50 price tag. Despite its artisan approach, the lack of robust toppings left many unimpressed.
