Greater Manchester weather forecast in full as amber rain warning in place

Greater Manchester is set to see a very wet start to 2025 tonight amid torrential downpours across the region.

Thousands have braved the weather to flock to St Peter’s Square for the city’s fireworks display this evening. While the rain has seen events across the country cancelled, Manchester’s will go ahead, council bosses have said.

An amber weather warning is in place across parts of Bolton, Bury, and Wigan this evening, with six separate flood warnings also issued.

But the wet weather isn’t set to stop tonight, with the first day of the new year also expected to bring heavy rainfall, according to the Met Office. You can find the hour-by-hour forecast below.

6am

After a night of heavy rain the morning will see much of the same. Temperatures of around 7C, with a 90 per cent chance of precipitation.

7am

The temperature looks set to get slightly chillier, at 6C. A 90 per cent chance of precipitation remains.

8am

Heavy rain continues, with temperatures of 6C and a 90 per cent chance of rain.

9am

The wet weather may ease off a little, with a 70 per cent chance of precipitation. Temperatures of 6C, but feels like 2C.

10am

The rain should continue to ease, with a 60 per cent chance of precipitation and temperatures of 6C.

11am

We may start to see glimpses of sunlight alongside rain. Temperatures stay at 6C with 70 per cent chance of rain.

12pm

Wet weather may ease a little again, with a 60 per cent chance of precipitation and temperatures of 6C.

1pm

We may still be seeing glimpses of sun, with a 50 per cent chance of rain and temperatures of 6C.

2pm

The weather remains much the same, with some sunny spells but chance of rain back up to 60 per cent.

3pm

It’s set to be grey but drier by 3pm, with a 40 per cent chance of precipitation.

4pm

There’s still likely to be some drizzle around at 4pm, as the daylight draws in. Temperatures drop to 5C.

5pm to midnight

From 5pm onwards we can expect drier weather, but still plenty of cloud around and slowly dropping temperatures.
