A cardiologist has made a bold statement by claiming that kiwis top the chart as the healthiest fruit, even outshining staples like avocados and apples. Asserting the exceptional benefits of the distinctive small green fruit, Rojas highlights its prowess in contributing to better sleep and loading the body with nutrients.
Aurelio Rojas explained: “It contains up to eight times more nutrients than an apple. It is very rich in fibre, making digestion easier. In addition, its low glycemic index can reduce your insulin spikes. And it is very rich in vitamins, such as E, K and C. Both vitamin E and vitamin C are powerful anti-inflammatory antioxidants that prevent the formation of cholesterol plaques in your arteries.”
On Instagram, the health professional outlined how incorporating kiwis into your diet could boost sleep efficiency, citing a study backed by Telva.
Aurelio shared the tantalising promise for weary heads: “Did you know that eating one or two before bed can help you fall asleep 50 percent faster? Plus, it improves the quality and duration of your sleep! Kiwi is rich in antioxidants, serotonin and vitamin C, components that promote restful sleep.”
BedKingdom.co.uk’s specialists echoed these sentiments earlier this year about the astonishing sleep-enhancing effects of the kiwi, saying: “Studies have shown that kiwi fruit can help improve sleep quality, sleep timings, and sleep efficiency after a month of regular kiwifruit consumption before sleep,” reports Surrey Live.
“Kiwifruit contains high amounts of serotonin and antioxidants, as well as vitamins like folate, and B vitamin, which can help to treat sleep disorders as well as help reset your sleep schedule.”

While kiwis may aid in achieving a good night’s sleep, other food items have been credited with helping some famous individuals return to slumber. Comedian Stephen Fry, 67, has shared his unique technique called “mayofulness” for those restless nights when he wakes up at 3am.
Speaking on the Dish podcast, he revealed that whipping up mayonnaise in the wee hours helps soothe his mind. He elaborated: “I wake up at three in the morning, can’t go back to sleep, I go down and I start to make mayonnaise.”
“It’s a mixture of concentration and rhythmic relaxation that I think calms the brain down. Unusually, then I can go back and go to sleep in the happy knowledge there’ll be a jar of mayonnaise. I call it ‘mayofulness’.”
While Stephen turns to mayonnaise for sleep assistance, McFly’s Danny Watts has a different approach, according to his wife Georgia. She revealed during Danny’s stint on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!
that he tapes his mouth shut at night. Speaking on the Never Have I Ever podcast, she said: “If I tell you this, this man has never fussed so much over the fact that he can’t tape his mouth in the jungle. He tapes his mouth at night. It’s meant to have many, many health benefits… It’s literally like a piece of gaffer tape. It’s like a massive plaster of your lips.”
