Claudia Winkleman has divulged some of the behind-the-scenes secrets from BBC’s hit series The Traitors. The show, beloved by fans, is gearing up for its return on January 1, 2025, featuring Claudia’s signature fringe leading the way.
Twenty-two strangers will be brought together in a Scottish Highlands castle to partake in numerous challenges and tasks as one unit, all vying to win a substantial cash prize. But there’s a twist: hidden among the genuine contestants are three traitors, scheming to cleverly undermine their team members.
By night, these deceivers will stealthily eliminate their targets, hoping their identities remain concealed during the consequential roundtable discussions by daylight, reports The Express.
A question that has piqued the curiosity of many avid watchers is how the show’s producers choose the participants for the traitor roles. Claudia, who gets a voice in this crucial decision, confided to journalists, “I’m not a goddess and I don’t choose them by myself.”
She detailed the selection protocol for the spies within the group, sharing: “We talk to all of them in that room and then we go into a room there’s 5 of us, 6 of us.”
She revealed the intense nature of the procedure, adding, “It is very stressful. And then you place it all. Everybody, I mean, I’m just the smallest voice in the room, but you, you decide, having had those chats, who it is going to be.”
With a bit of strategy, the team finalizes the decision, eagerly anticipating how it unfolds in the game. Discussing her confidence in the selection of traitors for the show’s third series, the host expressed: “I have faith And whether I was correct or wrong, we will find out.”
She also stated: “They’re always the right three. It could have been a different three, but it was those three and after you’ve spoken to them all that felt like the right three.”
Despite fans’ curiosity about what lies ahead, Claudia has kept details under wraps, saying: “I would love to tell you all about series three, but then I will get fired so I can tell you absolutely nothing. What I will tell you is that things are different.”
However, Winkleman has hinted at intriguing developments, adding: “There are some really exciting things that have changed, which keeps everyone on the toes and feeds into the central premise of trust. I can’t wait for everyone to see.”
