ITV Coronation Street legends ‘sign new deal’ as other fan favourites make exit

Coronation Street has managed to secure two fan-favourites ‘for at least another year’ amid a number of big-name exits. The pair were said have ‘jumped at the chance’ to remain on the ITV soap, much to the delight of show bosses.

Michael Le Vell, who plays Kevin Webster, and his former on-screen wife, Sally Dynevor, who portrays Sally Metcalfe, have both signed a new deal, The Sun reports. The duo have been firm fixtures in Weatherfield for decades, with Michael, 60, joining in 1983, and Sally, 61, making her first appearance in 1986.

A source told the publication: “Fans will be delighted to find out that despite all the exits on the cobbles, two of the show’s biggest stars have committed to another year on the soap. Both Michael and Sally jumped at the chance to stay and bosses were really happy about it.”

While Michael and Sally were staying put, fans will soon be saying farewell to some other popular characters. Charlotte Jordan, who plays pregnant barmaid Daisy Midgeley, and Colson Smith, who said he had “grown up in, on and around Coronation Street” during his 14-year stint as Craig Tinker, are both set to leave.

Eileen Grimshaw actress Sue Cleaver is also set to bow out, while Sue Devaney’s time as Debbie Webster will also come to an end. Their exits come hot on the heels of the recent departures of Luca Toolan, who played Mason Radcliffe, and Helen Worth, who played Gail Platt.
