An ITV Coronation Street has hit out at the departure of her co-star. Sally Ann Matthews, who plays Jenny Connor, has slammed Charlotte Jordan’s exit as Daisy Midgley as she admits she has been left “gutted” by the ITV cast cull.
Charlotte will leave the soap in the wake of Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen Grimshaw, and Colson Smith, who plays Craig Tinker, announcing their departures in recent days. Sally took to social media platform Bluesky where she shared her disappointment at the news of co-star Charlotte’s departure.
Coronation Street favourite Sally Ann simply wrote online: “#Gutted x.” Replying, one fan said: “Sal I’m heartbroken. Tell her no x.” And another pleaded: “Don’t let Daisy take Jenny with her.” Charlotte said last night: ““It’s been a privilege to be part of a wonderful institution with even more wonderful colleagues who have taught me so much.

“After a brilliant four years for Daisy it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities.” A source added: “Charlotte has loved her time on the cobbles but is young, ambitious and hungry to see what else is out there for her.
“She told bosses last April that her next contract would be her last, giving them a year to craft an exciting exit storyline. She’s still filming now and her final scenes will play out in early summer. She’s adored by cast and crew and will be hugely missed.”
Corrie boss Kate Brooks warned last month she will be axing characters including “some unexpected ones that will send shockwaves”. Luca Toolan (Mason Radcliffe) and Sue Devaney (Debbie Webster) are quitting or have been written out too.
And Helen Worth, who plays Gail Platt, departed the soap after a whopping 50 years on the cobbles during emotional scenes which aired on Christmas Day last month.
