On Monday’s Good Morning Britain, presenters Susanna Reid and Ed Balls delivered a live update on the much-anticipated rocket launch by Jeff Bezos.
While discussing the major stories of the day, Susanna, 54, and her co-host Ed, 57, covered the news regarding the Blue Origin rocket.
However, it was during this segment that Susanna announced a delay to the scheduled launch, prompting a breaking news banner to feature on the programme.
Susanna said: “This is the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, it’s a Blue Origin rocket. It’s due to be launched, it’s already been delayed twice, it’s now been delayed for a third time this morning.”

Following up with more details, she continued: “This is after years of setbacks but apparently this is a new phase in the commercial space market. The hope is that the rocket will compete with Elon Musk’s SpaceX project.”
Shortly after delivering this news, Susanna had an urgent ‘breaking news’ announcement to share, saying: “Very good, it is expected to launch in 12 minutes time, oh, 32 minutes, I thought it was 7:27am. Oh, it’s been delayed again!”, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Subsequently, viewers saw a ‘breaking news’ banner on Good Morning Britain which read out: “Breaking news: Jeff Bezos rocket launch delayed.” Later on the show, Good Morning Britain had more breaking news as they revealed Bezos’ rocket launch had been called off.
The announcement comes following Susanna’s recent extended break from Good Morning Britain.

She expressed her appreciation towards viewers earlier in December, confirming her time off from the show for a holiday break.
Following a three-week break, Susanna announced her return to television screens on Monday, 6 January, via an Instagram post featuring a warm candlelit scene, accompanied by the caption: “Happy New Year! See you on Monday.”
During her hiatus, Susanna underwent a makeover, revealing a new hairstyle with longer locks in a selfie. She wrote: “NEW YEAR NEW HAIR! After having THE CHOP in 2023, pop idol Cher told me women should keep their long hair so I am turning back time and going LONG for 2025 with hair extensions put in by @christinabhair. Let me know what you think – and see you tomorrow @gmb.”
In Susanna’s absence, Kate Garraway filled in as a presenter alongside Richard Madeley on Good Morning Britain.
Good Morning Britain continues on weekdays at 6am on both ITV and ITV X.
