The Masked Singer was hit by drama when a famed contestant reportedly “stormed off” the stage after being eliminated from the competition. The ITV spectacle had only just kicked off its new series last weekend, showcasing a variety of masked stars in the opening episodes.
The latest reveal, according to reports, came under exceptional circumstances, with the ousted participant departing the stage, evidently unhappy about their exit. The “dramatic scenes” are set for broadcast on Saturday night’s show featuring performances from Pufferfish, Bear, Toad in the Hole, Wolf and Bush.
The star in question, still to have their identity disclosed, has been teased as a “world-renowned star”. An insider alleges it was “absolutely bonkers,” describing the usual sequence where the least-voted celebrity takes off their mask right after the vote outcome is declared.

Typically, they would then converse with the panel and sing once more, this time unmasked. As reported by The Sun: “But instead this character turned around and shuffled off stage, which was hilarious in their costume obviously – but we were all stunned. We knew something was going on because we saw lots of to-ing and fro-ing with crew before the person eventually came back on stage.”, reports the Mirror.
They noted this added “even more” suspense to the audience discovering the mystery celebrity’s identity. The outlet reported that insiders revealed show bosses had to coax a celebrity to complete their performance, while host Joel Dommett kept the audience entertained. One source disclosed that the contestant was “basically gutted” about exiting the competition “so soon” into the new series.
The Masked Singer’s sixth series kicked off last Saturday with six contestants hitting the stage, and the remaining six showcased their talents in Sunday’s episode, which saw two celebrities revealed. Spag Bol turned out to be Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway after her performance of Geri Halliwell’s Look at Me, and Pegasus was later identified as Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith, who sang Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’ from Oklahoma!
This year’s panel has welcomed a fresh face, Love Island presenter Maya Jama, who steps in for Rita Ora, a panelist since the show began in 2020. Maya joins stalwarts Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, and Jonathan Ross for the latest series.
Guest panelists have included former Olympic athlete Mo Farah and actor Vicky McClure for the first two episodes, with actor Suranne Jones set to appear on this Saturday’s show.
