Former Love Island contestant Luca Bish is set to make a comeback to the villa in this year’s All Stars series. But, his time in South Africa could ignite something more than love.
The Brighton-born ex-fishmonger previously opened up about his skin condition on Instagram. It might make an reappearance during the show next week due to the fact experts claim it “gets worse” in the sun.
In a 2023 social media post he captioned “102 Dalmatians”, Bish had patches of lighter skin compared to the rest of his tanned body. It was confirmed as pityriasis versicolor, a common fungal infection that becomes more apparent in the heat, reports the Mirror.
Bish’s mum reassured fans that the condition was common and easily treatable with specific shampoos or prescription medication in some cases. In the comments section, she wrote: “Luca has been prone to it since a child, a tan makes it more prominent. Your GP will be able to prescribe what is needed. It’s not serious and quite common.”
She also mentioned that it can “take a few weeks or months to clear”. The proud mum actually praised her son’s post, adding: “He used to be quite conscious about it. I’m pleased he posted a picture of himself as it’s nothing to be ashamed of.”
On fair skin, these patches tend to be pink, red, or light brown according to the NHS. The website also states: “You may notice the patches do not tan in the sun”.
The patches most commonly show on the neck, stomach, upper back, upper arms, or chest. Typically, the patches are round and flat but can combine to form larger patches. They may sometimes be itchy and look scaly.

The symptoms of other conditions, including vitiligo, can mimic those of pityriasis versicolor. It is recommended that people should to make an appointment with their dotor if they spot any troubling symptoms in their body.
At 25, Luca appeared on Love Island in 2022 with Gemma Owen, England Star Michael Owen`s daughter, as his partner. The pair shortly left the relationship in November 2022 after having been together for a limited time outside the villa.
Love Island All Stars kicks off on Monday, January 13, hosted by Maya Jama. New episodes air every night except Saturday when unseen bits from the week are aired instead.
