The Masked Singer had a major twist as it unveiled its latest celebrity – who has already been on the show three times – as they stormed off the stage, shocking fans. The huge ITV show was back for its third episode on Saturday night, with a special summer theme as the show went on its holidays.
After all of the contestants had performed, it was Bear and Toad in the Hole who were voted in the bottom two by the panel – Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan, Maya Jama and guest judge Suranne Jones. Jonathan Ross said they were sending home Toad in the Hole as they were ‘convinced’ they knew who it was.
Toad then stormed off the stage before host Joel Dommett could even say anything, with Maya Jama looking concerned and say ‘Oh’. They did quickly return to the stage to pull off their mask, but appeared very unhappy about the decision.

Maya, Davina, Surrane and Jonathan all guessed it was Macy Gray behind the costume – and were bang on the money. Fans were shocked by the iconic singer’s response to her unmasking, as she barely said a word during her end of show interview.
“We are thrilled to have you here, thank you for doing the show,” Jonathan Ross said. But Macy stayed silent as fans branded the interview with host Joel Dommet ‘painful’.
When asked if she had struggled performing inside the costume, she sharply replied: “I’ve been around a long time, I’m a toad.”
Viewers took to X to comment, with one writing: “Wow, Macy Gray doing herself no favours at all.” A second commented: “she is NOT happy,” adding crying emoticons.
“Macy Gray got the right hump,” a third fan said. A fourth echoed “Macy Gray – weird,” while a fifth said: “This interview is painful.”
“Why does Macy Gray look and sound genuinely p***** off,” another fan asked.
Fans had quickly spotted it was Macy inside the costume, due to her incredibly distinctive voice. Macy has already taken part in the huge guessing game – appearing as Daisy on series one of the UK show back in 2020.
In 2021, Macy competed in season three of the Australian version of The Masked Singer as “Atlantis”. And in 2023, she competed in season ten of The Masked Singer USA as the wild card contestant “Sea Queen”.
She was the third star to be revealed on the 2025 UK show. Spag Bowl was revealed as broadcaster Kate Garraway during the show’s launch, while Great British Bake Off star Dame Prue Leith was behind the mask of Pegasus.
