The Masked Singer fans believe they have finally ‘cracked’ the identity of the celebrity inside the Bear costume. After puzzling viewers with two completely different performances, many viewers now say they are sure it is a British rapper showing off his vocal skills on the ITV show.
Bear, who initially performed a musical number from Oliver!, threw the judges and viewers off the scent with their rendition of Will Smith’s Miami on Saturday night (January 11). The holiday-themed performance only added to the confusion, but some eagle-eyed viewers are convinced that Bear is none other than rapper Example.
The Changed the Way You Kiss Me singer, whose real name is Elliot John Gleave, is also a songwriter and record producer. One fan wrote on X: “Bear sounds like Example without a doubt..and had a song called ‘Kickstarts’,” while a second said: “Bear is 1000000% @example.”

A third simply stated their confident guess: “Bear is example #MaskedSingerUK,” and a fourth commented: “So just listened to “Changed the way you kiss me” and I’m jumping on the Bear is example train. It does sound like him.”
Another fan added: “Closed my eyes and listed to #bear ….. definitely @example. Sounds just like his @FestivalToo gig.” Another viewer sent a message to the rapper, saying: “@example you look good in a bear costume fella.”
While another fan added: “Brown bear has to be @example.” In their previous performance, Bear hinted at their West End experience as a “cub” before belting out their version of the Oliver! classic You’ve Got to Pick A Pocket Or Two.
Before taking the stage, Bear teased: ”The stage is set, the audience awaits, and I am hungry for the competition. ” During the show, the affable character also shared a riddle: “I’m walking the stage and displaying my toil, but I’m also at home amongst flowers and soil.”
He released his debut studio album, What We Made, in 2007, followed by the mixtape What We Almost Made in 2008. Example first found success in 2010 with the release of his second studio album, Won’t Go Quietly, which peaked at number four on the UK Albums Chart and number one on the UK Dance Chart.
The Masked Singer returns to ITV1 next Saturday.
