The Masked Singer’s newest celebrity panelist Maya Jama has given her take on the drama on the show after American singer Macy Gray stormed off the stage after being eliminated. Maya looked stunned as Toad in the Hole exited the stage after being told they would be unmasked.
When they returned and it was revealed the American singer was inside the bizarre costume, fans quickly flooded the ITV show’s hashtag with comments saying the star looked ‘unhappy’ as she gave a curt interview with host Joel Dommett. When asked if she had enjoyed her time on the show, she simply replied ‘Yeah’.
Fans said the interview was ‘painful’ and ‘awkward’. A source later claimed Macy had been ‘blindsided’ by her early exit after her success on the American version of the hit show.

They said she had had a ‘human reaction’ to the news. Maya gave her opinion as she poked fun at the incident on social media.
Posting a clip of the moment Macy flounced off the stage on her Instgaram, Maya captioned the video: “Me at any minor inconvenience”‘.
Host Joel Dommett has since described the moment as ‘comedy gold’. Speaking on BBC Radio 2 with Paddy McGuinness, Joel said: “This is why The Masked Singer is so good, it doesn’t matter if you’re a good singer or not. The case with Macy is she’s a legend with a recognisable voice, and we all knew it was her.
“The other contestants are kept in because we don’t know who they are yet.” He added: “If you go home early, it’s a win-win. You get the same money, and you don’t have to do anything else. You can’t be vexed when you’re dressed as a toad.
Joel continued: “In my career, I’ve never seen anything funnier than a 6ft toad storming off stage. I love Macy, her voice is incredible, but that moment was pure comedy gold.”
The Masked Singer returns to ITV next Saturday night (January 18).
