Lorraine left her guests, Jessica Brown Findlay and James McArdle, bemused when she made a surprise announcement mid-interview. The presenter was chatting with the stars of Playing Nice when the incident occurred.
On Monday’s show, the Scottish TV favourite welcomed ITV’s Jessica and James, who lead the cast in the eagerly anticipated drama Playing Nice. The series, which concludes tonight, is a gripping tale of two babies switched at birth, set against the backdrop of Cornwall, UK.
The pair joined Lorraine to spill the beans on behind-the-scenes secrets when the conversation took an unexpected detour.
“Our Lucie Cave is actually live in Cornwall because lots of people want to know where it is filmed,” Lorraine declared cheerfully, before asking: “Look at that. Does that bring back lovely memories of gorgeous Cornwall?”

As they confirmed with a nod, Lucie revealed the “surprise” from the frosty Cornish coast. Greeting Lorraine, the broadcaster confessed: “It is a bit chilly, but I’m bracing myself to go into the sea a little bit later on. I’m in Mawgan Porth, which is one of the locations for the series.,” reports the Daily Record.
Lucie gestured towards the seaside, remarking: “If you look over there,” while the camera zoomed in: “You can see Miles and Lucy’s house, which at the time of filming was owned by a property developer but has now been sold for several million pounds.”
She then surprised her guests by introducing a familiar face to James and Jessica, their well-acquainted surfing instructor.
Lorraine interrupted the live interview for a surprise announcement
The stars of the drama series were taken aback as they introduced the surf guru live on the morning show. Peter Abell appeared lively, waving eagerly to Lorraine and her studio-bound guests.
He donned a black wetsuit alongside the programme’s showbiz correspondent Lucie, who was similarly attired.
Lucie humorously moaned: “The things you have me do, Lorraine,” as she practised on a surfboard, prepping for a chilly venture into the sea.
Laughter ensued as Lucie attempted the surf position, laying on the board and leaping into the air at the coach’s prompting, “I think you’ll be a pro and take a wave on the first go.”
The television reporter seemed far less certain of her abilities.
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
