Lorraine Kelly left her guests, Jessica Brown Findlay and James McArdle, somewhat confused after springing an unexpected “surprise” on them during their interview. The pair, who lead the cast of the gripping drama Playing Nice as married couple Miles and Lucy, were discussing the series when Lorraine introduced a live link to Cornwall.
On Monday’s show, the Scottish presenter chatted with the ITV stars about the eagerly anticipated drama about two babies switched at birth. As the four-part series set in Cornwall ends tonight, Jessica and James joined Lorraine to spill the behind-the-scenes secrets, but the conversation took a slight detour.
“Our Lucie Cave is actually live in Cornwall because lots of people want to know where it is filmed,” Lorraine beamed before asking: “Look at that. Does that bring back lovely memories of gorgeous Cornwall?”
The actors nodded as Lucie presented the “surprise” from the frosty Cornish coast. After greetings, the broadcaster confessed to Lorraine: “It is a bit chilly, but I’m bracing myself to go into the sea a little bit later on. I’m in Mawgan Porth, which is one of the locations for the series.”

Lucie gestured towards the seaside, remarking: “If you look over there,” as the camera zoomed in: “You can see Miles and Lucy’s house, which at the time of filming was owned by a property developer but has now been sold for several million pounds,” reports the Daily Record.
Lorraine also brought a delightful surprise to the studio by introducing someone familiar to James and Jessica, their surfing coach, much to their amazement.
James and Jessica had no idea what was coming on the show
As part of the live breakfast show, Peter Abell, the surf coach, popped up brimming with energy, giving a cheerful wave in response to Lorraine and her guests’ warm greetings back in the studio.
Abell wore a sleek black wetsuit, bravely enduring Cornwall’s brisk temperatures beside showbiz reporter Lucie, who was similarly geared up.

Lucie couldn’t help but let out a moan, “The things you have me do, Lorraine,” while she practiced balancing on a surfboard before venturing into the nippy waters later.
The rehearsal was far from dull, as Lucie attempted to spring upright on the board at the instructor’s encouragement, “I think you’ll be a pro and take a wave on the first go.”
Despite the optimistic coaching, Lucie wasn’t exactly sold on the idea.
Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV1, from 9am.
