Jennifer Saunders shares biggest fear about ITV The Masked Singer

Jennifer Saunders has candidly expressed her unease about not recognising celebrities on ‘The Masked Singer’. Teaming up with her fellow ‘French and Saunders’ comedy partner, Dawn French, as guest judges for the quirky ITV1 musical game show’s holiday special, Jennifer, 66, confessed to TV Times magazine before the Boxing Day episode: “Dawn is far more up to date with the who’s who of showbiz, so I’m hoping she’ll be giving me some suggestions. ” Worrying she might be clueless about the identities of those unveiled, she added: “My biggest fear is not recognising the celebrity who does actually have to ‘take it off’! I’m hoping we’ll work as a team.”

Despite their strong friendship, the ‘Vicar of Dibley’ star Dawn joked about her intense competitive streak, saying with a chuckle: “Any rivalry between Jen and I on this show will not be be friendly.”

Asserting her determination, she continued: “We love each other, but a competition is a competition. ” Adding a playful threat, she concluded: “I’ll take her down with no mercy! ” Saunders, also a previous guest panellist, admitted being dumbfounded when Julia Sawalha, her ‘Ab Fab’ daughter Saffron “Saffy” Monsoon, turned out to be Bubble Tea, stating: “I think Julia managed to elude me because she was inside a huge bubble tea! “.
