Jeremy Clarkson has extended the closure of his notorious Diddly Squat farm shop, causing disappointment among fans itching for a winter visit. Despite initial expectations that the shop would reopen at the end of January the presenter revealed it would remain shut until March.
Adopting his trademark no nonsense approach to avoid letting his patrons down, Clarkson assured followers on the social media platform X. He said: “While it’s true that the farm shop at Diddly Squat is closed as usual until March, the farm shop at The Farmer’s Dog is very much open. Every day apart from Mondays and Tuesdays. You can grab a burger too and a pint.”
Interest in Clarkson’s farming trials peaked with the launch of “Clarkson’s Farm” on Amazon Prime, which showcased the journey of him moving from TV host to farmer. Since rising to local fame, droves of tourists have descended upon the village, eager to visit the farm shop popularised by the television series.

The influx caused fury among locals; where once there was peace, traffic chaos descended onto the town, leaving lanes lined with cars and blocking villagers’ journeys.
Following the closure of his farm shop, the 64-year-old is now directing visitors to his latest venture, The Farmers Dog pub. Previously known as The Windmill, Clarkson purchased the inn for approximately £1 million last year and promptly began extensive renovations.
He has already installed a new outdoor area complete with a revamped canopy and over 20 picnic tables for alfresco drinking. His life as a publican is set to be central to the fourth season of his farming show as he tackles new challenges away from Diddly Squat Farm.
After being open for just four months, the pub has already implemented significant changes. A statement from The Farmer’s Dog read: “It’s been just four months since we opened our doors at The Farmer’s Dog and we are learning as we go and listening to your feedback, so here are our initial plans for 2025.

“As of January 3, you’ll be able to book at lunch. That’s right, you can now ensure you’ve got a spot. Get bookings whilst you can. As always, we will also leave some room every day for walk-ins too. We are now also going to open six whole days a week, Tuesday – Sunday and, as if that wasn’t enough, we are going to open our doors earlier, so you don’t have to queue waiting in the cold. The Hawkstone will be flowing from 11am.”
Top Gear fans might be in for a disappointment as it’s been revealed that presenters James May and Richard Hammond won’t be seen together at The Farmer’s Dog pub, having been officially barred.
In reaction to the news, Mr May commented: “He told me that, but I said to somebody, it’s like being banned from the golf club, being banned from somewhere where I wasn’t going to go anyway, so, what does it mean?”
