Jeremy Clarkson speaks out on Diddly Squat farm shop closure

Jeremy Clarkson has spoken out following the news that his famed Diddly Squat farm shop will shut down temporarily. Fans of Clarkson’s Farm, the hit Prime Video show, have flocked to the Oxfordshire store since 2020.

Taking to social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, Clarkson said: “While it’s true that the farm shop at Diddly Squat is closed as usual until March, the farm shop at the Farmer’s Dog is very much open. Every day apart from Mondays and Tuesdays. You can grab a burger too and a pint.”

The buzz around the countryside hotspot grew after Clarkson’s Farm aired, showcasing the ins and outs of rural life managed by the former Top Gear host. The Farmer’s Dog opened its doors last August in Burford, giving Clarkson’s fans yet another reason to visit.

Before opening the new establishment, he had cautioned his eager followers: “But PLEASE use the main roads.” Parked cars causing obstructions have been a problem for the location, often leading to traffic issues, reports the Express.

News of Clarkson getting involved with a pub named The Coach and Horses, situated close to his Hawkstone Brewery, started circulating at the outset of 2024. During the same period, The Coach and Horses received a new premises licence from the Cotswold District Council. This licence permits live music to be played outdoors until 9pm and alcohol to be sold seven days a week from 11am until 11pm.

As reported by the BBC, the pub required an investment of £750,000 due to its “poor state.” It was revealed that there was a “hole in the roof” and during a licencing meeting in February, the pub’s agent expressed a desire for a new tenant. Jeremy later purchased the inn for less than £1 million and it is set to appear in his popular series, Clarkson’s Farm.

The fourth season of the show will depict Jeremy taking on the role of a pub landlord and the challenges this brings. The outdoor area has been entirely revamped with a new canopy and over 20 picnic tables for patrons to enjoy their drinks outside.
