Jimmy Mizen's 'rapper killer' could be sent back to jail after subtle clue found in video

A rapper accused of being 16-year-old Jimmy Mizen’s killer could reportedly be sent back to prison after a clue was found in his music videos.

Rapper TEN, whose songs have been showcased on BBC 1Xtra, is said to be 35-year-old Jake Fahri, who was released from prison in June 2023 after serving 14 years of his life sentence for the horrific murder. The Ministry of Justice confirmed on Tuesday it had launched an urgent probe into the rapper.

As part of his licence conditions, Fahri is not allowed in certain London boroughs, including Greenwich and Bromley. But in a music video for his son Dirty Game, the balaclava-clad rapper can be seen filming on the Greenwich Peninsula with the backdrop of Canary Wharf.

In the clip, TEN can be seen rapping next to several luxury cars at Blackwall Point Draw Dock near the O2 Arena, which according to The Sun is within the lifetime exclusion zone imposed on Fahri following his release. Jimmy’s mother Margaret Mizen, 72, said of Fahri: “He is not allowed in certain boroughs. Greenwich is one of them.”

When asked by the newspaper if Fahri should be recalled to prison, the heartbroken mother said: “He will have to. Otherwise the licence will be a laughing stock. If he has breached it then yes, he needs to go back to prison and really think about his life.”

Margaret also spoke of her fear that the rap videos will make Fahri “a celebrity” to some people as she said: “The films, if and when they’re out there again, they’ll just go up, because people will be viewing them. Is that good? I don’t know.”

Last night, the music video was still showing on the GRM Daily YouTube channel, which has 6.5million subscribers, but some fans turned against the rapper. One wrote: “I remember this happening, not far from where I lived. He needs locking up again until he learns. It’s shameful he took a life.” Another commented: “Flexing that you killed a 1-year-old is disgusting shi [sic] old man.”

Fahri, then aged 19, attacked Jimmy Mizen at a London bakery in May 2008, grabbing a glass baking dish before smashing it into the youngster’s face. The attack left Jimmy with a neck wound which saw him bleed to death in the arms of his brother Tommy. He was granted parole 14 years after being handed a life sentence and was released from prison in June 2023.

In one of his songs, which was not played on the BBC, TEN says: “Stuck it on a man and watched him melt like Ben and Jerry’s. Sharpen up my blade I’ve got to keep those necessary.” In another, TEN says: “See a man’s soul fly from his eyes and his breath gone. Seeing blood spilled same floor he was left on.”

The BBC said in a statement: “Decisions on music are made on a case by case basis and we have strict editorial guidelines in place before any content is broadcast or posted. BBC 1Xtra does not glamourise violence and this individual does not feature on any playlists.”

The Ministry of Justice said it had launched an urgent probe into the killer. A spokesperson said: “We are aware of this content and are investigating it as a priority. We take any material that could glorify violence or distress victims extremely seriously.” TEN has now deleted all social media and the Mirror was unable to approach him for comment.
