As a tribute to Kate Middleton on her birthday yesterday, William posted a photo and touching message to the princess on their official Instagram account. In this monochromatic photo, Kate is seen wearing a fairly low-key outfit consisting of denim jeans, a white shirt, and a black blazer, finished off with a check scarf.
We have always loved Kate Middleton’s style over here at the Mirror, and this image is just further proof of her style status as she proves how much a statement scarf can elevate any look.
Although we’re unsure of the exact scarf Kate is wearing, we have found an £18 version that looks just like hers. The £18 buy comes from Bershka and features a similar check pattern. We obviously don’t know the exact colour of the princess’ scarf due to the black-and-white nature of the image, but we can see the print, as well as the dark and light aspects, leading us to assume her version is also monochromatic.

If you’ve got a simple outfit and are looking to style it up a bit more, a statement scarf is a great way to do so. The Bershka one is definitely a woollier, thicker version than Kate’s. However, this is ideal for the recent temperature plummet and perfectly combines style with functionality.
We’ve also found a few other versions if you want to emulate Kate’s style. Fatface’s gingham scarf is similar in thickness to Kate’s one and is available for £35 here. This one definitely won’t keep you as warm; however, it is perfect for when the weather finally picks up, and you’re looking to add some interest to your transitional looks.

Another item we love is Kate’s pleated white shirt in the Instagram post. Again, we don’t know the exact brand she is wearing; however, we found an almost identical version from With Nothing Underneath for £150.
Although this shirt is on the pricier side, With Nothing Underneath is a B-corp brand, so you’re paying for a company that has committed to its employees, community, and environment. Not to mention, the materials used will be of high quality and likely to last in your wardrobe for years and years.We can’t wait to see what Kate’s next style moment is!
