King Charles giggles with Rod Stewart and everyone says same thing about rocker's outfit

King Charles’ unlikely friendship with Sir Rod Stewart shows no sign of stopping after the rocker joined the monarch on his latest outing.

The veteran singer was seen causing the King to crack up as he joined him for a special event at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, just hours after he and wife Penny Lancaster were named the newest celebrity ambassadors of The King’s Foundation.

Rod was seen sporting an gigantic rollerneck sweater on the visit which covered his whole chin as he beamed alongside his wife, and the bold fashion choice has got eveyone talking.

As the charity celebrated its 35th anniversary, the King, Sir Rod and Penny were joined by TV host Alan Titchmarsh as they placed items in a special time capsule. And Sir Rod couldn’t help but crack a joke by pretending he was preparing to throw his watch into the empty box.

He then pretended to cower as Charles picked up his secateurs to place them in the capsule, to the King’s amusement. Charles then put in a personal letter, saying “I’ll bury this at the bottom.”

The capsule design has been left intentionally plain to both celebrate the British timber used and to give space for other students and alumni to add decorative elements throughout the year.

Sir Rod, who turned 80 last week, and Loose Women star Penny have now joined the likes of David Beckham and Sienna Miller in ambassador roles. The singer, who has long been a supporter of the charity, said: “We are so pleased to be coming on board as ambassadors for The King’s Foundation and look forward to lending our support to this worthwhile cause, particularly during such a significant year for the charity.”

The singer, known for hits including Da Ya Think I’m Sexy? Hot Legs and Maggie May also gathered with the King, Beckham and Miller at the foundation’s inaugural awards in St James’s Palace in June.

Penny, also known as Lady Stewart, said: “As a volunteer special constable, the Foundation’s approach to building communities – and how access to green spaces can help build better, healthier places – is particularly important to me.

“It’s an honour to be working with the Foundation and I can’t wait to meet more of the inspiring people who both learn with and work for the organisation.”

During their visit today, the couple also met staff at the Health and Wellbeing Centre on the Dumfries estate to hear about the range of perimenopause programmes and support groups available on-site for the local community, linked to Penny’s role as patron of Menopause Mandate.

The King’s Foundation, previously known as The Prince’s Foundation following an amalgamation of Charles’s charities, which stretch back to 1990, the year he turned 70, aims to “advocate for the change His Majesty wants to see in the world”.

Its textiles education programmes works to train the next generation of young craftspeople in heritage and endangered skills but it also focuses on sustainability, farming and agriculture, health and wellbeing, and architecture and urbanism.

The foundation has a growing number of well-known ambassadors, including Beckham, Miller, Alan Titchmarsh, Sarah Beeny and Patrick Grant, and celebrity supporter Naomi Campbell.
