Kirklees police officer charged with raping girl under 13

A West Yorkshire Police officer has been charged with raping a girl under the age of 13.

PC Marcus Newbold, 29, based in Kirklees, is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on Friday, January 3. He has been charged with a number of child sex offences against the girl.

The offences allegedly took place between 2007 and 2011. Newbold became an officer in January 2021. The offences were reported to the force in September 2022. He has been suspended from duty since the reports were made.

A force spokesperson said: “A West Yorkshire Police officer has been charged with a number of non-recent child sex offences.

“PC Marcus Newbold, aged 29, who is based in Kirklees District, has been charged with rape a girl under 13, assault a girl under 13 by penetration, four counts of assault a girl under 13 by touching and two counts of cause/incite a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity. He is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on Friday, 3 January, 2025.

“The charges relate to offences against one victim between 2007 and 2011. PC Newbold joined West Yorkshire Police in January 2021 and the offences were reported to the police in September 2022. He has been suspended from duty since that time.”
