Kirklees schools closed for third day as snow and ice continue to cause disruption

Dozens of schools across Kirklees will remain shut for a third day due to snow and ice.

Schools were due to reopen on Monday but heavy snow on Sunday and Monday left roads and paths impassable and many remained shut. Several stayed shut on Tuesday as the arctic blast continued with further snow.

And some are still shut for a third day due to the snow and ice. Many have also said they will now open – but at a later time.

The snow has caused major disruption on the roads and public transport network too with some schools saying staff are unable to get to the site. And with the extreme cold weather set to continue for several days there could be further disruption ahead.
