Linda Nolan dies aged 65 after planning funeral two years ago

Pop star Linda Nolan has died aged 65. It comes after the star’s lengthy battle with secondary breast cancer.

The singer was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and went into remission the following year. In 2017, she revealed she had been diagnosed with a secondary cancer in her hip, which spread to her liver in 2020.

She later revealed it had spread to her brain. Linda passed away today with her famous sisters at her side. Her final hours were said to have been full of “love and comfort.”

In a statement released to the Mirror, agent Dermot McNamara, said: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Nolan, the celebrated Irish pop legend, television personality, Guinness World Record holding West End star, Sunday Times bestselling author and Daily Mirror columnist.

“She passed at around 10:20am at Blackpool Victoria Hospital on the MCEW Ward. The family said the hospital couldn’t do enough, they were tireless and made it so much more bearable.

“She passed peacefully, with her loving siblings by her bedside, ensuring she was embraced with love and comfort during her final moments. Linda’s legacy extends beyond her incredible achievements in music and entertainment.

“She was a beacon of hope and resilience, sharing her journey to raise awareness and inspire others. Rest in peace, Linda. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.”

Linda had spoken of how she was left “sobbing” when doctor’s delivered her latest set of results in August 2024, which revealed two of her largest tumours had grown in size. Speaking about her symptoms to The Mirror, she said: “I sobbed when my consultant first told me. I know so many people are suffering and going through things, but I thought, just for once, could cancer just leave me alone? My heart sank.”

She continued: “I had feared something was wrong. My balance has been getting worse and my memory – my sisters have to prompt me when I get lost in the middle of a sentence.”

She had been trialling new drugs to extend her life. Back in 2023, Nolan said she had started planning her funeral. “I think it’s a one-way trip now,” she said.
