The Nolans’ pop singer Linda Nolan shared her funeral plans prior to her death today (January 15), after her cancer spread to her brain. Linda revealed that she envisioned a ‘blingy’ pink glitter coffin and had already selected the music for her memorial service.
In a heartbreaking interview with the Mirror, Linda said: “I think it’s a one-way trip now.” She also mentioned her sister Bernie, who tragically died of breast cancer in 2013 at 52, saying: “Bernie arranged hers [her funeral]. It’s easier for people left behind.”
Linda had chosen a Neil Sedaka song, Our Last Song Together, for her service and knew which funeral directors she wanted to use. Linda lost her beloved husband Brian Hudson to skin cancer in 2007, just a year after her own first diagnosis with breast cancer.

She recalled: “Brian’s coffin was like a flight case, with ‘This way up’, ‘Fragile’ on it. Our auntie had a beautiful coffin with pictures of us around it. Then Maureen [Nolan sibling] said ‘Look at this coffin, it was made for you, it’s pink glitter’. I am the blingy Nolan.”
Linda had been open about her mental health struggles following Brian’s death, revealing that she had sought help from a crisis team after feeling suicidal, reports Birmingham Live. However, she also expressed her belief that she would be reunited with him after her own passing.
Speaking on her loss, Linda Nolan shared, “My illness magnifies my grief for him, but in a way, I’m glad he isn’t here to experience the heartbreak,” adding with a hopeful note, “It helps that I believe I’ll see him again.”
Linda and Brian shared 26 years of marriage after meeting when Brian was The Nolans’ tour manager. Linda shot to fame in the family group, The Nolans, who are remembered for their impressive sales of 30 million records and chart-topping tunes such as ‘Attention To Me’, ‘Gotta Pull Myself Together’, and the classic, ‘I’m In The Mood For Dancing’.
