DWP cold weather payments triggered – including Lancashire

The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) will be sending £25 Cold Weather Payments to eligible households in 51 more postcode areas – including Lancashire – as the current nationwide cold snap continues.

Payments will be made to help vulnerable people with their heating costs as the UK experiences freezing temperatures and wintry conditions.

To be eligible for the payments, households must be claiming a qualifying benefit such as Pension Credit, Income Support or Universal Credit.

The first Cold Weather Payments of the year were triggered last week in areas of Cumbria and Northumberland. Today, the DWP confirmed that another 51 postcode areas are now eligible for the payments.

The latest payments have been triggered by low temperatures recorded at the Bainbridge and Bingley weather stations, which cover parts of Lancashire and West Yorkshire.
