Live snow and traffic weather updates as Met Office amber warning approaches

Snow is expected to fall on Saturday afternoon in large parts of Wales, with an amber warning in place later in the evening and overnight. Wales has been subjected to severe weather in recent weeks and months. The country saw two storms late last year as floods and heavy winds battered parts of the country.

The latest batch of inclement weather will hopefully not bring the same level of disruption, however the Met Office is warning of potential flooding and thawing of lying snow which could lead to very poor driving conditions.

The amber warning for snow and ice comes into force at 6pm on Saturday and will remain in place until 12pm on Sunday lunchtime. There is also a yellow warning for snow and ice already in place (since 12pm on Saturday) until midnight on Sunday. Additionally, a third weather warning – this time a yellow warning for rain – has been issued which will be in force between 6am and 9pm on Sunday.

Parts of south Wales are expected to see snow from mid-afternoon on Saturday, before it becomes more widespread later in the day and into Saturday night.
